motherhood
I couldn’t just draw or photograph or paint to fully express all the feelings and experiences that I’m still going through and went through infertility, pregnancy, and becoming a mother.
I wanted to share in some kind of form that more closely mimicked my journey so I chose paper.
Paper can tear, stretch, expand, swell, break, shrink, scar, renew like our bodies can.
When paper is torn it leaves gorgeous edges like how we mentally and physically remember our experiences.
When it is stretched, it knows to shrink back like our bodies.
When it expands, it's like how we expand to make a room for our baby.
When it scars it leaves marks like our bodies.
It can be renewed, like our bodies.
The perfect medium that mimics our humanness and it’s beauty.
It was perfect for my motherhood pieces.
